Poem(s)
-All poems are assigned on Friday and are due the following Friday. This week we are working on Poetry Patterns. Next week will be working on the Newspaper Poem. Your child has a packet that defines the different poems.
L.A./English
– We are working in the grammar book. We are getting ready for a grammar test by reviewing. The test should be in the
first week of February. There might be changes so pay attention to the daily assignments in the planner.
Reading –
We are unit testing this week. Next week we will be reading, “Along the
Santa Fe Trail,” pages 434-455. The
workbook pages that will be assigned are 175, 176, 179, 180, 181, 182, and 183. There might be changes so pay attention to
the daily assignments in the planner. If your child has a hard time reading, have them start the story over the weekend.
Book
Report – The Puppet Show book report is due today. I’ll assign the next book report in a couple of weeks.
Vocabulary/spelling
– We are finishing up Unit VII this week. There will be a vocabulary test this Friday, January 20, 2006. Next week, we will be working on Unit VIII for two weeks. Next Friday, January 27, 2006 we will be having a spelling test. The words are: alternate, demolish, energetic, enforce, feat, hearty, mature, observant,
primary, resign, strive, and verdict. There might be changes so pay attention to the daily assignments in the planner.
Math
- We are working on Chapter Five, Measurement and Integers. We will be having a test on January 20, 2006. There might be changes so pay attention to the daily planner for updates. If your child is having trouble in the
math, I stay in at lunch on Tuesday and Thursday.
Science
– We are working on Physical Science, Chapter Two, “Investigating Motion.” There will be a test on January 19, 2006. There might be changes so pay attention to the daily assignments in the planner. If your child is having
trouble in the science, I stay in at lunch on Tuesday and Thursday.
Handwriting – We will be working on Lesson Seventeen and Eighteen. There might be changes so pay attention to
the daily assignments in the planner.
Notes -
Field
Trip to the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum is next Thursday,
January 26, 2006. We are brown bagging our lunch. There is a store with neat
science items just incase you wanted to know.

PUPPET SHOW BOOK REPORT
Work with 1-3 other people.
Choose as a group a short story or an easy
book below your reading level. The one hundred and fifty page book is not in
effect.
Story need to be at least as many characters
as people involved in show, no more than two characters per person.
Re-write (re-tell) the story as a script
for a (puppet) show. The story can change in some ways (i.e. boy to a girl, woman
to a girl, boy to a man, spider to a fly, etc.) Try not to change the plot too much or you’re going to have a to work
extra hard.
